Battery Park City Commerce & Culture
Due to its physical location in the borough, Battery Park City long felt removed from the rest of Manhattan. Limited dining and shopping options certainly didn’t alleviate the sense. But while Battery Park City can’t change where it is, venerable retail and restaurant options have at least moved in to fill a void. You can find notable cultural institutions and museums near the southern portion of the neighborhood, where you can also stroll through Wagner Park and into the eponymous Battery Park. Sitting riverside along the Battery Park Esplanade is also always a great plan. However, what you can’t find in Battery Park City can easily be uncovered in adjacent areas. Tribeca draws residents north with its selection of restaurants, many of which some of the city’s leading chefs helm. Meanwhile, the Financial District is full of offerings of both historical and cultural significance.
